How to Link Reference Documents to AI Templates in Limesync
Introduction to Template Context
The Template Context feature allows users to provide the AI with a reference or example document, ensuring that future content generation aligns with specific tone, structure, and formatting requirements. By linking an existing document or creating a blank example, you give the AI additional instructions on how to set up the content beyond the basic template structure.
Navigating to the Template Library
To begin configuring context for your AI templates, follow these steps to access the library and select your target document type:
- Click the Templates button in the left sidebar to open the Template Library interface.
- Browse through your available templates. Locate and click on the desired template card, such as PDD - General, to open the editor and begin the configuration process.
This initial setup phase is critical for defining the framework that the AI will use to generate more accurate and contextually relevant documents.
Linking an Existing Document
Linking a reference document is a powerful way to provide the AI with context before generating content. By providing a finished example, the AI can emulate the specific tone, structure, and terminology of your existing work, significantly increasing the accuracy of the generated output.
How to Link a Workspace Document
To begin, open your desired template from the library and locate the Example button in the top-right header. Clicking this button opens a menu where you can choose how to provide context.
- Select the Source: Choose Pick from existing document from the dropdown menu to browse your current Limesync workspaces.
- Configure the Link: In the 'Link example document' modal, select the appropriate Workspace to display your files. Browse the list and click on the document you want to use as a style and structure guide.
- Confirm Selection: After selecting the file, click the Link Document button at the bottom of the modal.
Confirming the Reference
After successfully linking the document, the editor header will update to display a banner stating 'This template has an example'. This serves as a visual confirmation that the AI is now equipped with the necessary context to generate high-quality, relevant content based on your chosen reference.
Creating a Reference from Scratch
If you prefer to manually provide context rather than linking an existing workspace document, you can create a reference from scratch. This is particularly useful when you have content in external sources like Google Docs or PDFs that you want the AI to emulate.
Removing an Existing Example
Before creating a manual reference, ensure any existing linked documents are removed from the template. To do this, locate the header section of your template editor:
- Click the Manage dropdown button.
- Select Remove Example from the list of options.
- A confirmation toast stating 'Template example removed' will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Manually Entering Reference Content
Once the template is clear of existing examples, you can initiate the manual creation process. Click the Example button in the top navigation bar and select create blank example from the dropdown menu.
This action opens a clean, blank editor within the Limesync platform. To populate it:
- Navigate to your external source document and copy the text you wish to use as a reference for tone, structure, or content.
- Return to the Limesync Template Example editor and paste the copied content directly into the workspace.
- Review the text to ensure it accurately represents the desired context.
- Click the green Save button in the top-right corner to finalize the reference.
Upon saving, a notification saying 'Template example updated' will confirm that the AI now has access to this manual reference for future document generation.
