How to Create and Use Custom Templates in Limesync
Initializing Template Creation
The first step in leveraging AI-driven document generation is setting up a custom template. This process allows you to define the structure and specific instructions the AI will follow when processing your video content.
Accessing the Template Library
To start, locate the Templates tab in the left-hand navigation menu. Once inside the Template Library, click the + Create Template button found in the top-right corner of the interface to open the template configuration modal.
Defining Template Properties
In the creation modal, you must specify the foundational details for your new template to ensure it is correctly categorized and shared:
- Template Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name (such as "Onboarding") in the Template Name field to help identify the template in your library.
- Template Type: Define the sharing scope and visibility. You can choose from three distinct categories:
- Personal Template: For individual use only.
- Team Template: Shared within your specific team.
- Org Library: Available to everyone across the entire organization.
After naming the template and selecting the appropriate scope, click the Create button at the bottom of the modal. This saves the initial template entry and prepares it for detailed content editing in the next step.
Configuring Template Sections with AI Prompts
After finalizing the basic template settings, click the Edit Template button in the top-right corner to enter the document workspace. This environment allows you to define the structure of your future documents by combining standard text headings with specialized AI instructions.
Establishing Document Structure
To organize your template, type a section title such as "Overview" or "Step-by-step procedures." For the AI to recognize these as distinct sections, highlight the text and select Heading 1 from the paragraph style dropdown menu in the toolbar. This hierarchical structure provides the framework for the automated content generation.
Utilizing Bracketed AI Instructions
The AI generates content based on specific instructions placed within bracketed symbols [...]. These prompts act as placeholders that tell the system how to process the video or document data for that specific area of the template.
- Concise Summaries: To generate a high-level briefing, place your cursor beneath your heading and type a prompt such as:
[Create an overview section here, which summarises the document or video in 2 to 3 sentences, using a concise language system]. - Detailed Procedures: For technical workflows, you can request specific formatting and visual assets. For example, insert:
[Include step by step breakdown of the video here, including plenty of screenshots. And number each step as well with a clear title at the top].
By defining these parameters, you ensure that every document generated with this template follows the same professional standard, providing consistent summaries and visual-rich instructions across your organization.
Generating a Document Using a Template
After defining your template structure and AI instructions, you must save your work and apply it to a video source to generate the final documentation.
Saving the Template
Once you are satisfied with the sections and bracketed AI instructions in the editor, click the Save button located in the top-right corner. This stores the logic in your Template Library for future use.
Initiating Document Generation
To use your new template to create a document:
- Click the + Create New button in the left-hand sidebar and select Create Document from the dropdown menu.
- Select the Create from video card within the 'Document with AI' window.
- In the configuration modal, ensure the correct Workspace is selected.
- Open the Template dropdown menu and select your custom template (e.g., 'Walkthrough').
- Enter a Name for your new document.
- Click the Video file upload area to select your MP4 or MOV source file.
Click the Create button in the bottom-right corner to begin the AI processing.
Reviewing the Generated Content
After the AI finishes processing, navigate to your selected workspace to open the document. The resulting file will automatically follow the structure you defined in the template.
Verify that the output contains the specific sections you requested, such as a concise Overview and a Step-by-step instructions section featuring numbered steps and clear screenshots captured directly from the video.
